If you are looking for a place to stay, you will find many nice cabins, hotels and bed and breakfast locations within minutes of the lake. The majority of the 8,300 acre man-made lake lies within the awesome Daniel Boone National Forest. The dam was constructed in 1969 and opened for business in 1974.
The fishermen will be happy to know that Cave Run Lake offers great fishing. The main species include Muskie; Small and Large Mouth Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, White Bass, Kentucky Bass, Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish and Trout in the streams.
